The path that you describe today is very interesting , I just route with three friends and we had fun. In planning morning we decided to reach the summit of Mount Dog (Ventimiglia di Sicilia), rising from the entrance near the bridge buck, then down the other side near Baucina .
In fact, during the walk, for various reasons, we changed route, but even if we have not reached the summit (1200 meters), the walk was very pleasant except that we enjoyed a descent offroad from altitude to sea level to 850.
The route starts from the railway station in Altavilla Milicia , this place was chosen because near the highway, there is always parking is at zero and then at the very end the final descent. At first we must do ten miles on asphalt, they are roads with little traffic, not just from mtb, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
then we arrive at the entrance of the forest, here begins a pretty tough climb, and a series of hairpin turns on dirt roads from the average gradient of 15%, I think the most challenging part of the path, but slowly we reached the top, where you can admire the lake and the coast of Caccamo, unfortunately the photos do not do justice to wonderful views that can be observed from above.
